Sugarland is an American country music duo composed of two Atlanta, Georgia singer-songwriters: lead singer Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush. The group was founded in 2003 by Kristen Hall, also a singer-songwriter from Atlanta. Hall, who named the band, was a member of Sugarland until her departure in 2006. Nettles, Bush, and Hall were all members of Atlanta's folk-rock scene in the 1990s and early 2000s prior to Sugarland's formation. Their debut single, 'Baby Girl', was released in 2003, eventually setting a record for the longest chart run on the Billboard country charts since the inception of Nielsen SoundScan in 1990. The duo is also the 2007 winner of the Country Music Association's Duo of the Year award.
