Duffy (born Amy Anne Duffy in 1984 in Nefyn, Gwynedd), is a Welsh female soul singer-songwriter. Born in Nefyn, Wales. Duffy returned to Nefyn when she was 15, and started singing in various local bands which resulted in some unsuccesful European touring. Returning to Wales, it was during one session in Cardiff where she met Richard Parfitt of Newport, Gwent band 60ft Dolls, who introduced Duffy to former Public Image Limited turned music manager and part-owner of Rough Trade Records Jeanette Lee. Lee moved Duffy to London, and orchestrated a meeting between Duffy and Suede's ex-guitar player Bernard Butler, who then helped refine her singing and a sound.
