Britney Back With Paparazzi Boyfriend?

Posted on July 4th, 2008 in showbiz, artists news by AnnaB

britney_adnan_sm.jpgRumours are rife that Britney Spears is back with her ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib.

There are several reports of the Paparazzi photographer being sighted going in and out of Britney’s father’s home in Hollywood Hills, where she is currently living.

Close friends believe that Spears is only seeing Ghalib again because she is worried that he might sell an explicit sex tape of the two of them, to the highest media bidder.

In a past interview with UK magazine Heat, Adnan stated:

‘I have had many calls about it (the sex tape) from all over the world. In light of the constant calls about the sex tape and threats, I’m taking a break from the industry and keeping a low profile.’

With the troubled singer only recently getting back on her feet, her family are likely to be troubled by these new events. It is understood that they think the photographer has ulterior motives when it comes to romancing Britney.

Prince Charles Presents Kylie With OBE

Posted on July 3rd, 2008 in pop, artists news by AnnaB

kylie_glitter_sm.jpgPop Princess and the darling of two continents, Kylie Minogue has today been formally appointed OBE by the Prince of Wales.

Prince Charles presented the 40 year old singer with her medal during a ceremony held at Buckingham Palace. Kylie admitted that she hadn’t been particularly nervous about speaking with Prince Charles as the two have met twice before.

“He asked me what I’m up to at the moment and said he is happy to see me better”

Kylie has long been a cherished honorary daughter of the UK, with the British public having fallen for her Australian charms, during her Neighbours acting days in the 1980’s.

“I do feel very proud. I think my job, aside from making music, is about communication and this symbolises my communication with my audience around the world.”

The petite ‘Show Girl’, looking stunning in a cream-coloured dress decorated with large stars, was delighted to have her nearest and dearest around her for the special occasion.

“I knew I would be nervous. I was very excited and to have my family here was magical,” she said.

Lily Allen Seeks Attention Again

Posted on July 3rd, 2008 in pop, album news, artists news by AnnaB

lily-allen_grass_sm.jpgAnd now little Lily Allen has announced that she may no longer write and record music … no doubt fearing nasty criticism towards her hugely anticipated second album.

The ‘Littlest Things’ singer has told Rolling Stone Magazine: “I left school at 15. I’m not a genius songwriter. I don’t think I’m really good at anything. I’m really scared about what people are going to say. I don’t know why. Some people will like it and some won’t. If people hate it, then I’ll just try something else.”

Pondering a future behind the scenes she revealed in the interview that “I’d really like to do A+R at a record company.”

The forthcoming album has been tentatively titled ‘Stuck on the Naughty Step’ which is an apt title for the attention seeking singer who just can’t seem to avoid behaving badly.

Evanescence guitarist starts own label

benmoody.jpgFollowing five years of collaborations, former Evanescence star, Ben Moody, is hoping to take his love of music to the next level with the creation of his new, artist-centred label, FNR Records.

Moody spent eight years as the lead guitarist of multi-platinum Grammy Award winning rock band Evanescence before leaving the band in late 2003 to pursue new music avenues.

Since his departure from Evanescence, Moody has collaborated with some of the hottest stars in the music business. His writing and producing credits include work on Avril Lavigne’s ‘Nobody’s Home’, Anastacia’s ‘Everything Burns’ and Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Because of You’.

Moody has stated that he created the label out of frustration: “After going to such great lengths to protect the integrity of a project during the creative process, it seemed almost sinful to let the major label monster destroy it.”

Moody has certainly started off on the right foot by signing Montana native, Hana Pestle; an alternative rock/acoustic solo artist. Pestle captivated Moody with her unique sound – supposedly a mix of Radiohead, Sarah Mclachlan, and the Cranberries – and Moody  simply couldn’t resist signing her up: “It only took Hana singing one song and I was sold . . . I have never in my life been more in awe of such a breathtaking natural talent.”

We look forward to seeing what FNR Records brings us next!

Lily Allen completes second album

Posted on July 2nd, 2008 in music biz, pop, album news, artists news, music news by carly

lily.jpgFans of Lily Allen will be pleased to note that the ‘Smile’ star has just announced the completion of her second studio album.

The new album, which will follow on from her 2006 debut album ‘Alright, Still’, will be handed to record bosses next week.

“I’m pretty much sure it’s finished and I’ve got a meeting on Tuesday with the label, I’m really happy,” the singer told the BBC.

Allen was keen to stress that she isn’t concerned what her label (Regal Records in the UK and Capitol Records in the US) will make of the new album: “As much as I love them they’re just people who give you a loan. I’m not scared of my label.”

However, many believe that Allen should be concerned about her label’s views as the star has become better known for her drunken antics than her music, a move that has angered her label.

Plus, the recent success of fellow Capitol Records artist, Katy Perry, has led many to believe that Allen is not only out of favour with fans, but her own label also.

Nevertheless, we’re sure that Allen will buck-up her ideas, party less and impress her critics with her second album.

Allen’s second album ‘Stuck on the Naughty Step’ will be released this autumn.

Wakestock 2008

Posted on June 30th, 2008 in festival news, music biz, music news by carly

wake.JPGIf you’ve been hit with a spot of post-festival blues then fear not as you still have Wakestock 2008 to look forward to.

Whilst the first leg of the festival took place this weekend in Oxfordshire, the second leg will kick-off in Wales on the 4th July.  Not only is wakestock home to some of the world’s finest wakeboarders – each putting on a display of breathtaking spins and flips – but an impressive array of artists, including Mark Ronson, Duffy, Sam Sparro, Estelle, The Streets and Pendulum also.

For anybody who isn’t sure (i.e. not hip enough) wakeboarding is a surface water sport which involves riding a wakeboard over the surface of a body of water behind a boat. It was developed through a combination of water skiing, snowboarding and surfing techniques and is particularly popular in the US.

Both professionals and amateurs compete in the Wakestock festival while wakeboarding and music fans kick-back and relax. Doesn’t sound too bad does it?

Wakestock 2008 will take place in Abersoch, North Wales from 4th – 6th July.
