The ballad has become a fan favorite, with numerous radio stations playing the song regularly since its release. Due to the success of the song, Vision Quest, on its release in Europe, was renamed Crazy for You to capitalize on the song's popularity.
It was ranked number 38 on Vh1's 100 Greatest Love Songs, and the special revealed that 'Crazy for You' was recorded in one take.
The music video, directed by Vision Quest director Harold Becker, shows clips of the movie which explains how the two lead characters fall in love. Meanwhile, Madonna sings about their love in a night club. The same video was used for the UK 1991 re-release. Madonna shot her performance on November 22, 1983 at the Big Foot Tavern in Spokane, Washington.
