Speech and Neneh Cherry met during the early touring days of Arrested Development. They were invited individually to write for the international music writing group '1 Giant Leap'. Whilst Speech was in America working on Braided Hair, '1 Giant Leap', without Speech's knowledge, invited Cherry to work on the same track in London. Despite the fact that the pair never met whilst creating the song, the collaboration worked incredibly well.
