China Girl is a song which was co-written by Iggy Pop and David Bowie, for Iggy Pop's album The Idiot. It did not make much of an impact until it was released by David Bowie on the album Let's Dance. The UK single release reached number2 in the charts, and the US reached 10. The song was a regular for Bowies live shows for the rest of the 1980s, and resurfaced again from 1999. The video was banned in many countries, but it went over very well on MTV. It won the first ever award for Best Male Video at the 1984 Video Music Awards.
