Hook Me Up is a pop dance song written by Jessica Origliasso, Lisa Origliasso, Shelly Peiken and Greg Wells, produced and mixed by Wells (Timbaland, Mika, OneRepublic) for The Veronicas' second album Hook Me Up (2007). It was released as the album's first single in Australia on September 22, 2007 as a CD single and digital download. The single was released for download via iTunes on August 18 and aired on radio on August 19, 2007. The video was released on August 31 and was channel V ripe clip of the week. Lisa stated on a late night radio show that the song is about being "stressed" and "wanting to get away from it all". The single made its debut on the ARIA Digital Track Charts at number seventeen on September 3, 2007. On November 11 it became the girls' highest-charting single and their first number-one single on the ARIA Charts.
