The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards were dominated by the return of Britney Spears and a controversial host, British comedian Russell Brand.
Attending music's hottest celebrity event, Britney looked fabulous and like a different person to last year. The 'come back queen' seemed genuinely touched to win three of the coveted trophies for ‘A Piece of Me’.
Russell Brand, who declared the night a "launch of a very new Britney Spears era", sprinkled his opening speech with jokes about George Bush and the Jonas Brothers, upsetting Jordin Sparks and many in the audience.
With astounding performances from the likes of Rihanna, Pink and Christina Aguilera the evening was both hilarious and enthralling, continuing the VMA tradition of never failing to entertain.
Here Audiotube takes a close look at the winning videos and some of the best nominees.
