What I think about todays Top 5 Itunes Download Tracks

  1. Pussycat Dolls - When I Grow Up

Does this sound like a Fergie track to you? There is something very Fergie about it.
Maybe same team are behind this? It's a bit repetitive.
Not a fan of the Pussycat Dolls myself.
This is the first single from their second studio album I just don't get the Pussycat thing!
Mutton dressed as lamb springs to mind. ouch!

  2. Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl

I definitely like it! Great tune. Love the video too burlesque but with a modern twist.
Saucy minx that Katy Perry! Gimme more!!

  3. Rihanna - Disturbia (Unfortunately can't embed this video due to Universal's annoying disable embed rules - shame click here to see it instead)
Is that the beginning of 'I'm Blue'(Da Ba De) by Eiffel 65
Sure sounds like it to me.....Not sure about this scarey gothika Rihanna!Definitely don't think it has the hit potential as some of her other tracks.

  4. Eric Prydz - Pjanoo

Cool video. Love this track too definitely makes me want to get on the dancefloor.

  5. The Script - The Man That Can't Be Moved

I am loving The Script especially this song 'The Man That Can't Be Moved' love the lyrics and idea that someone would be waiting on the corner of the street forever waiting for his girl to turn up. Then I am a sad romantic!!

Sadly, I've only been able to watch the last episode of X Factor UK which is Episode three but even so I am already hooked!!

The auditions are just so brilliant and funny although I have to say I miss Sharon Osbourne because she is so bonkers and funny but having said that Cheryl Cole from Girls Aloud seems to be doing a good job and at least she has an opinion and seems to be really enjoying herself.

This week bought us side splitting moments like the poor lady Gylen who thought she was as good as Celine Dion and then just totally murdered 'My Heart Will Go On' then we had the duo who had the worst hair in the history of hair do's.

Finally, Ariel who is obviously bonkers scared the pants off the panel and all I can say is I'm glad I was only watching from home and not in the studio!! What was that all about......scary lady! Definitely, an classic X Factor moment!!

Then on the plus side the lovely Cyril who at 80 is most definitely a star already!! Rachel Adedeji who song the most amazing version of 'Unbreak My Heart' along with Laura White who was so sweet and could hold a great tune too.

Can NOT wait to watch the show next week!!
Gylen                             Laura                             Rachel                           Ariel                                 Cyril

This weekend I had the time to have a proper play around with my Ipod Itouch which I have had for a little while but  mainly only used it to listen to music so I had a proper mess about with it this weekend and all the new applications seemed to take so long to download I was intrigued about what it all did. It seems the new apps are pretty cool especially love the google GPS map thing that is brilliant as long of course if you are near a wifi zone otherwise they are pretty useless...and mobile me thing that Apple just launched has me totally foxed too....I must read up on that and find out what it actually does guess it's a bit like Isync before it?

I tried all my usual bookmark haunts but realised that since I had it and the Iphone came out in the UK ages ago that they still haven't got Flash video working on it. As most of my fav websites feature videos it was all a bit dissapointing. Does anyone know when this is going to change?

Sadly, all this playing around with my Ipod Itouch has just made me want to get my grubby little hands on a Iphone so I don't have to be in a wifi zone to use the apps etc....my next problem is do I really have to change network provider to get it or can I get it unlocked here in Espana?

God so many choices, decisions to be made!!

It seems that there is no place to hide from the recent spate of knife crime that seems to be gripping the UK at the moment. On Sunday, we heard the sad news that it has also made it's ugly way into the world of music festivals. A place I for one believe is sacred.

It makes me question what kind of world we live in when an innocent bystander attempts to defend his young female friend who has been accosted by two men and is then set upon with what seems the weapon of choice for young people these days a knife. He was stabbed 11 times about his head and body for helping a friend.

Fortunately, he was attended to on site by an excellent medical and hospital which had been set up and is said to be 'making good progress' at a nearby hospital. It could have been so much worse and I could instead by telling you about the fatality of another young person in another senseless crime. What the hell is happening to society? Has the world gone mad?

Next time it could be me, you or a loved one or friend that someone decides to attack with a knife on the street when we going about our daily lives minding our own business or stepping in to help someone. We need to put a stop to it now before more people a cruelly taken away from us.

So sad to hear that Ronnie Wood the Rolling Stones legend has fallen off the wagon. Clearly, he has a very serious drink problem and as is often the case he has taken up with a drinking buddy a very young Russian girl of 23 years who sadly seems to be taking advantage of him and his problems.

Even more sad because not so long ago we saw him celebrating at his daughter Leah's wedding were the whole family looked very united and happy.

Get straight soon Ronnie before it's too late........

So, I heard that Lily Allen had some new tracks on her myspace page and of course I couldn't resist checking them out.

They are from her forth coming new album due out very soon......

I am loving the tracks...it's a much more grown up synth pop sound. Her vocals sound really beautiful and even the lyrics are much more delicate, thoughtful and contemplative much more up my street than her last album which I liked but that seemed to lack the depth that this one has......

They have big fat hit written all over them.......

Check them out for yourself......

She is clearly a very talented lady. How she finds the time with all that hair dying and get popped up she seems to do....mmmm I'd like her life sounds ideal to me.....

Can't wait....

So I know maybe I'm a bit late to catch on but I just had to say that Yael Naim's incredible voice on New Soul has had me champing at the bit to hear some  more of this incredible lady.

I took a tour of Itunes because I love the way you can check out tracks on albums with Itunes and get a taster of what the album is going to sound like before you commit to buying the whole album.

Being an old staunch CD physical format girl I can not tell you how many thousands of CD's I have at home with one or two if your lucky three great tracks and the rest filler songs that are totally unmemorable and basically rubbish. I know it's a classic pop band trick but you can't help but feel short changed when you get home to crack open that plastic wrapping and realise the error of your ways!

That is why these days I always 'try before I buy' and I don't have any more space in my house for CD's anyway so its digital all the way....I love cruising Itunes looking out for what is hot and what other Itune fanatics are buying, it's a great way to pick up some little gems.

Which brings me back to Yael Naim whose awesome tune New Soul is featured on her eponymous album which is out now. When I checked it out on Itunes wondering if I should buy it the resounding answer was yes, yes, yes! The album is a total corker without any fillers at all. She is of Tunisian descent but has lived much of her life in Israel and Paris so she is quite an exotic creature just as you would expect from those glorious tones in her voice. She reminds me of a cross between Madeleine Peyroux and Leslie Feist lead singer of Feist. Can't wait to hear more from Yael and look forward to listening to the album to death...check out the video below...

A definite recommendation from me....The album track list is as follows;

1. Paris
2. Too Long
3. New Soul
4. Levater
5. Shelcha
6. Lonely
7. Far Far
8. Yashanti
9. 7 Baboker
10. Lachlom
11. Toxic
12. Pachad
13. Endless Song Of Happyness

So, I am loving this Chanel track called 'My Life' (House Mix) that was released through Ministry Of Sound a few months back and was a massive European hit.
Chanel's star is in the ascendent clearly. This is the kind of house music I love....it just makes you want to get up and dance and sounds so old school but it sooo fresh too....I gues that's because the backing track is 'Street Life' originally by Randy Crawford and this track 'My Life' was written by Chanel herself and layered over the top. It works beautifully.....
She has a new single out soon called 'Dance' Fish and Chips House Mix which rocks too....watch out for it on Audiotube soon....

At last and not before time both Amy Winehouse and Britney Spears have both been hospitalised due to their recent troubles which you must have heard about unless you've been living under a rock.

We can now only hope and pray that they get the help that they need and have the strength to get their respective lives back together.

Kylie Minogue commented on Britney's meltdown by saying 'I wish someone would write a manual about fame because it’s not easy. I’m always loath to say that because there are a lot more difficulties out there that people deal with every day - but when fame is handed to you, it is unique.'

I hear what Kylie is saying but by the same token being famous can't be used as an excuse. Life is all about taking responsibility for our own actions and yes because you are famous maybe there are more possibilities and temptations presented to you but why does your weakness become an issue of being famous?

Responsibility seems to be a dirty word these days. We can make excuses for ourselves and our behaviour but at the end of the day it is our choices and decisions that we need to take responsibility for.

Regardless of my rantings about responsibility I do want to wish Britney and Amy a speedy recovery on what will be a long and hard road. I know from experience that you can only help people when they are ready to be helped. So, let's hope the time has come for these two very talented young women.

  1. Will this new scandal persuade Amy Winehouse that she needs some help? - Latest news reports show her in a bad state which was captured on video by a so called friend. Probably a similar so called friend that videoed Kate Moss and Pete Docherty in a similar situation. Although, it seems this was the best thing that ever happened to Kate Moss as she could command double what she could demand post the scandal than before. This latest scandal should be enough to shock anyone back to reality and show you what a terrible situation they have got themselves into. Let's hope something brings her round and soon.

  2. Did Britney get a restraining order to stop Pap boyfriend selling his story? - Sadly, but as expected Britney's X lover and very short lived Brummie Paparazzi boyfriend is hawking his story about his relationship with the 'Gimme More' star or so the media reports claim. Her agent is not making any comment but it's just another bizarre twist to this troubled stars life. Let's hope she can get back to the important job of getting access to her kids.
  3. Will the Arctic Monkeys attend the Brits? - The story is that the Arctic boys are not happy about being pitted against Manchester rivals Take That and so are snubbing the awards. It's the age old Pop versus Indie Rockers beef that seems to crop up every year in some guise or other. The Brits are certainly going to be a pop fest if they can't have the likes of well respected and hugely acclaimed Indie rock band Arctic Monkeys to attend or perform. I for one believe that awards like the Brits should be for all genres and should not give all the awards to one genre of music or band just because they are the flavour of the day unless of course those awards are specifically billed as Pop awards.

alt So this Christmas I bought the new Girls Aloud album Tangled Up which has had rave reviews in the music press.

These girls found fame via a talent show a few years back and I was suspicious of another manufactured pop act but from the start they have rocked with some excellent pop tunes and have just kept them coming. I can not wait to get this album loaded onto my Ipod because it is just packed with hits. Although, as per usual I am expecting to find a few fillers, well that is not surprising because these days you can't seem to get an album with out fillers but regardless they have released a number of singles off this album and so many of them are just brilliant pop hits.....

I'll report on my thoughts on it soon....watch this space

The track list is as follows;

1. Call The Shots
2. Close To Love
3. Sexy No No No...
4. Girl Overboard
5. Can't Speak French
6. Black Jacks
7. Control Of The Knife
8. Fling
9. What You Crying For
10. I'm Falling
11. Damn
12. Crocodile Tears

So, the next Chemical fix is on Friday 14th Dec 2007 when they play a favourite haunt of the Brixton Academy - Having not been in London for a little while it will be great to get some gigging action - I haven't been back to the Academy since the smoking ban come into force so am wondering what the smell is going to like that everyone keeps wittering on about. Personally, I am pleased that I am not going to stink of fags when I get home.

Anyone else seeing any good gigs over Christmas period....one is not enough for me but don't know what else is happening.

So, I am back and only just barely recovered from a hardcore weekend in Valencia.Valencia is an exceptional city which seems to pulsate with life, bars, clubs and generally a very cool vibe.

Obviously, the highlight of the trip was the Chemical Brothers gig which was on Saturday night but that didn't stop us going out and over doing it on Friday. We hit Valencia town hard finally ending up in a awful nightclub called the thirty somethings. Which played the most horrendous selection of
music which seemed to peak with a rendition of Enola Gay which sent the crowd wild. Enough said on that place I'd say. It was only the second gig to happen in the Feria De Valencia which is mainly a conference centre but recently they have started to host gigs as well. No one could identify the first band to have performed there but let's face if no one remembers who they were they couldn't have been that memorable.

Anyway, our cab driver mistakenly took us to a fair ground which was hosting the Feria De Valencia which basically translates to the Christmas Fair. We all looked bewildering at the big dipper wondering where on earth the Chemical Brothers would play. Fortunately, we told him that this couldn't be the right place and then he called his boss who informed him that indeed it was at the actual Feria de Valencia which is huge and not the Fair in Valencia!

Arriving at the correct location finally we were presented with huge numbers of Spaniards on the Botellon which is a mainly Spanish phenomena and requires everyone to nip down the local offie or Supermarket this being Spain after all to buy a bottle of spirits some mixers and hey presto 'let's get drunk!' - It's a bizarre sight to behold because in Britain this kind of occurrence seems to only happen when you a teenager but here it seems everyone is up to it.

We made it into the venue and made our way down loads of escalators that had been switched off I don't understand why they needed to be switched off. I guess it's a safety thing but there are way more people on the escalator Oxford Circus tube station so I am not sure what the deal is there.

As we descended into the bowels of the venue via escalator after escalator and then the screaming started. It seems some 'botelloners' were way over excited and couldn't contain themselves any longer....totally freaky. Finally, we made it inside where James HOlroyd was warming up the crowd with some classics.

The venue reminded me a bit of Cream in Liverpool with that industrial feel. Then the boys hit the stage and once again rocked with the ass kicking beats and incredible visuals. I noticed that the creepy clown was there but had been joined by another clown later on in the gig. Fortunately, the new clown is not as creepy as the first! Tom played the kazoo which I hadn't seen before. They played for two hours but the time flew because it was such a great show. Definitely, worth the money and the trip even if it us 7 hours to get there!!
I'll be posting some pics and video when I get the chance to download it from my camera.

altLast night’s much anticipated TV premiere of what was billed as 'An intimate portrait’ of Kylie Minogue on the return leg of her Showgirl – Homecoming 2 Tour which was postponed due to her being diagnosed with Cancer – Unfortunately, it seemed that this documentary was more about her relationship with her ‘gay husband’ as she described him William Baker who began life as her stylist and now seems to be everything Creative Director, Producer, stylist and general everything to Ms Minogue. Although, amusingly when the computers went down during one of Kylies gigs which was described by someone ‘as one of the brains behind the whole show’ he ran off to her dressing room because he couldn’t handle the stress! So, when the going gets tough....

I felt the documentary did nothing for the singer in fact if anything I thought it made her seem rather sad character that did not seem as humble as I thought she would be.

At one point we saw Danni Minogue join her sister for a duet of the ‘Kids Are Alright’ and we didn’t get to hear Danni sing at all which I thought was absolutely bizarre instead we had some random bland song that must be on the new album X.  It made me wonder if there was something to hide.  Maybe the sisters are not as close as it would appear especially since crying William Blake explained to Kylie he couldn’t film the moment because he was too emotional and filling up because the two of them had not been so close for years and I suppose that her illness had bought them back together. Kylie then had to comfort him.

William Blake sadly was the worst person to direct this documentary because sadly he was just too close to the subject and there was absolutely no objectivity at all perhaps the reason he was allowed to film it. His interviews with the pop star appeared sycophantic and creepy. He asked her what it was like to be a symbol of hope to all those who had cancer and I just felt that they missed the point she was a pop star who had suffered just like many, many others before her and  sadly the struggle continues. The fact that it happened to her means it can happen to anyone and she was lucky enough to get the best care money can buy not everyone is so fortunate. I felt as though William wanted her to become some kind of martyr too harsh perhaps but that’s how it felt.

At the beginning of the programme Baker suggesting ‘for most people, Neighbours, Michael Hutchence, gold hot pants and cancer = Kylie, and I want to rip that surface away.’  - The journalist who reviewed the film for The Times online brilliant wrote ‘Alas, over the next two hours, Baker doesn’t so much rip the surface away as gently caress the surface, going “'Mmm, lovely surface”. White Diamonds reveals far less of Kylie Minogue than the legendary hot pants did. To be honest, it reveals less than a well-cut winter coat and knee-boots would.’"

It felt like a dire attempt to boost her sales for the new album X and did not address the issue of her health at all....William Baker is a classic case of famous by proxy. 'My employer now bestest friend in the whole world is famous and therefore by proxy so am I and my opinion counts’ even if it is just sycophantic rubbish it seems he holds a lot of sway over Kylie and has managed very nicely to go from Stylist to Producer to now film director although I didn’t see him doing much work in the film. What a wasted opportunity.

altSo, after having to queue for over half an hour to get in, not my favourite way to start the night we eventually got inside the club after watching a bevvy of party goers pass us by because they had the foresight to pre-book a table comes in at around €200 a table apparently. Next time I think we'll definitely do this so guess that's a top tip. Get a table with a load of mates and then avoid the queue of shame!

Once inside we found a good location to see the DJ booth and parked ourselves there which was essentially a corridor between tables on either side. The club was heaving and there was no way I was going to hit the dance floor which was enclosed by all the pre-reserved tables - bit claustrophic for me. We collected our drinks which were free due to the €40 entrance fee for the night. As you can imagine getting to the bar was difficult but we waited patiently for Erick to hit the decks...

When Erick arrived to much excitement all round he did not disappoint. - Great set which seemed to go on forever which I hear is pretty standard for big American DJ's and it even included his most famous hit  Reel 2 Reel's hit 'I Like To Move It.' which sent the crowd wild. Erick Morillo I have to say looked so happy and was a real joy to watch and listen to with his smiling face and waving at random people in the crowd a really cool guy.

Definitely, recommend you see this DJ legend if you get the chance he will not disappoint. Definitely a good night all round....Apart from the man on the podium who decided to pick up a hot candle to wave it in the air a la rock gig stylee and managed to pour it on my head....mmm not a great moment, but I soldiered on.

Just a final comment on my thoughts on the difference between the Spanish crowd in Dreamers and an English dance crowd was quite pronounced the English dance crowds that I've experienced seem so much more happy than the people in Dreamers on Friday night. There seemed much more of a vibeyness going on but maybe it was just that night. Definitely looking forward to the next big name DJ that rocks up at Dreamers but this time we'll have a table you live and you learn.

altErick Morillo legendary music DJ/Producer and visionary plays tonight in Puerto Banus, Marbella.

He has remixed such a diverse array of artists from Whitney Houston to Basement Jaxx, from the Sneaker Pimps to Macy Gray. He runs the music empire that is Subliminal Records and has collaborated with the likes of the very cool Audiobully's.

If that wasn't enough Erick is also a platinum selling artist and has topped the charts worldwide as the producer behind Reel 2 Reel's hit 'I Like To Move It.'

So, when you hear that Erick is hitting the illustrious superclub that is Dreamers in Puerto Banus here in my home town it's a invitation I can't resist.  I haven't had the pleasure of seeing him before but from what I've heard Snr Erick Morillo rocks the party like no one else....and of course it's a house party like none other.....

I'll report back with all the highlights of tonights gig.....

alt So, the hotel is booked and the tickets are sorted for a jaunt to Valencia to see the Chemical Brothers. I can not wait to see them rock the house in the big V, that is Valencia.....

I've never been to Valencia before so am really looking forward to seeing the city too. We have a tidy little firm of friends coming from London as well so we'll all meet up in Valencia on Friday night and drink a couple of glasses of Rose to celebrate another great weekend seeing the Chems.

We last saw the Chemical Brothers together at in the Summer at the Summercase Festival in Madrid. We had the most amazing time. The festival was brilliant fun and totally different to the UK festivals I have been too. I couldn't get over the fact that festivals in Spain go through the night when in England they finish about 1am being the latest unless your at one of the tribal gathering or gatecrasher events that are a bit different I guess. I think the Chemical Brothers finished their set at about 5am! I really enjoyed the vibe at the Summercase Festival I felt so at home with so many other Spanish music lovers. Where I live there isn't much of a music scene so it was great to be back in the heart of a music related event.

Boadilla Del Monte where the festival was held was a bit like being in a chalk quarry so the ground was really rocky, but that didn't stop me and my mates rockin' the night...

Until it was finally time for the Chemical Brothers to hit the stage and even though we were in the open air under the most amazing Madrileno night you could still feel the tension and excitement build, the atmosphere was electric....We were lucky enough to be on the sound tower at the back and so had the most amazing view of the crowd and the stage. I was totally blown way by the music, the graphics, the lights and the slickness of this gig it was just incredible.

If you get the chance to see them you can not miss out. I know they are on a massive tour at the moment touring their incredibly successful album 'We Are The Night'

I am really, really looking forward to seeing them again in Valencia. I have no idea what the Feria De Valencia is like as a venue but I imagine it's going to be a massive stadium style venue which I normally avoid but if anyone can rock the place then it's these boys....

So, I thought last nights EMA's broadcast live on MTV One was a bit of a disappointment....I'm not sure if it was the venue or the lack of stars but it just seemed to drag on too long and have way too many advert breaks. It just lacked the excitement of the VMA's that were held in Las Vegas in September....

Snoop presented and when he as on which didn't seem very often he was pretty damn cool......Bizarrely, the organisers of the event who had obviously seen him present other awards I guess choose to silence him by cutting the sound when he turned the air blue or so I presume because I don't know as they choose just to cut him off and leave the audience at home wondering if the Telly had gone wrong.....pretty shabby I  have to say....this is a rock n roll awards ceremony after all and it was after 9pm so I think MTV and whoever they had organising the show should be ashamed of themselves.....we're not kids and if there were any kids watching at 10-11pm then I am sure they can hear the odd swear word.

Amy Winehouse performance of Back To Black was a bit weird.....I couldn't put my finger on it but it just seemed a bit lacklustre like at the Mercury Music Awards in the UK some months ago. She seemed to have moments of genius followed by parts where she seemed to get lost...Maybe I'm being out of order here but having seen the coverage of her perform at Glastonbury where she was electrifying it just didn't seem to work somehow. When she was given the 'Artists Choice' award she climbed down off her husbands lap in a confused manner, made it to the stage looking shy and confused and eventually, after making me and probably the rest of the audience very uncomfortable mumbled thank you and then left stage probably to get back to her husband who she seems attached at the hip from.......I really hope things are OK with her.....

Babyshambles with a hot looking Pete Doherty performed 'Delivery' to one of their most high profile audiences yet. I am so glad to see Pete looking great after a stint in rehab. Maybe him splitting with Kate has done him the world of good. Let's hope that he is now going to get back to being creative and writing and performing great music again.

The Foo Fighters I think were the stars of the night......Their performance was incredible and the light show was just amazing...I guess that was the best bit of the show for me and where the venue for the awards really did seem to work. Dave Grohl rocked with his lively chat and natural presenting style in VIP area, shame he just didn't have the best collection of stars to interview though because it just seemed that the few that were there seemed to keep popping up over and over again....

I did notice that the stars that did attend all won prizes which seemed a bit suspect.....But why didn't get more stars to show up? Would be my question to MTV and their organisers.

What about the new cool European breakthrough act category? I had never heard of any of the bands and probably never will again which is just as well because when the organisers bizarrely cut to another studio to show us the nominees in the UK and Ireland zone those acts were incredible. So, I just couldn't figure out how it was so skewed to Eastern European acts........I guess because they had more votes but I didn't even hear about this category until the night of the show.....

Final thoughts are that.....the venue was just way too large and felt completely atmosphere-less like a big stadium gig that you go to where you might as well be watching it on TV because you are so far away you end up watching the big screen rather than the stage anyway....Not enough star faces and Snoop should not have been cut off.....MTV try better next time...

I hear that next year the UK's legendary city of Liverpool will play host to the 2008, EMA's. Let's hope it knocks the socks of this year's EMA's.....
